Welcome to Episode 1: The Breath of Foundation of the Absolutely Focused Radio 7-week midweek reset, hosted by Doug and Angela.
By Wednesday afternoon, modern life often pushes us into a low-grade fight-or-flight response. In this episode, we explore how intentional rhythmic box breathing acts as a biological brake to regulate the autonomic nervous system, reduce cortisol, and shift your body out of sympathetic overdrive.
Key Topics Discussed:
* The Midweek Slump: Why your body treats a busy Wednesday afternoon like a physical emergency, triggering sympathetic stress.
* The Vagus Nerve Hack: How conscious 4-4-4-4 box breathing regulates your nervous system and restores internal calm.
* Spiritual Mechanics: Moving away from empty meditation by anchoring physical stillness directly into biblical truth.
* The Foundation Protocol: A guided walkthrough of our signature Foundation Anchor Card technique to transition your foundation from shifting sand to solid rock.
Mentioned in This Episode:
* Core Scriptures: Psalm 46:10 ("Be still, and know that I am God") and Matthew 7:24 (The house built on the rock).
* Resource: Foundation Anchor Card.
Be sure to subscribe and tune in next week as we continue our 7-week midweek reset journey!
How does breathwork reset your nervous system? Sometimes we all need a time out, just to breathe.
Welcome to Wednesday Time Out, a 7-week Breathwork Journey with Doug and Angela. Every Wednesday, we stop the noise, take a breath together, and build something steady underneath us.
Episode Overview: The Breath of Foundation
In Episode 1, we start with why chronic stress keeps your body stuck in fight-or-flight, and why slow, deliberate breathing tells your nervous system it is safe to settle. You will learn about the 4-4-4-4 box breathing baseline, then take a time out with us for three slow belly breaths: in for 4, out for 6.
Anchoring Truth and Stillness
We pair the breath with two anchors of truth: Psalm 46:10 ("Be still, and know that I am God") and Matthew 7:24, the house built on the rock. When the body gets still, the foundation has somewhere to hold.
This Week's Practice
- Three breaths, once a day.
- Do it before you check your phone, while in the car, or right before a hard conversation.
- Just three.
Take your time out. Then come back next Wednesday for Episode 2.
Note: If you ever feel lightheaded, return to normal breathing. This practice should always feel calm, never forced.
